Fall of The Republic: Off and On
As we near that time where we declare next year ours, keep in mind the things we walked away from this year and in years past. We have escaped the dooms of disaster and the flames of defeat. Yet, we have also abandoned causes and concerns that for a moment had us fired up and ready to go.
So we went….far and away from where we said we would take it. We shared our testimony and claimed our reward but we stood reluctant to raise hell to find heaven or at least a haven.
As new years near, never forget the things we swear by and swore off. Remember the legacy we promised to carry on and the heritage we vowed to preserve. When we tag ourselves winners winning, forget not the lost and the losses. When the clock strikes twelve and the new day begins, inscribe upon the clean slate those dedications unveiled but unfinished.

Let us pretend we do not know what our unfair advantage is. Let us humble ourselves to the thought that we have no clue what makes us special. Let us assume we are not and have never been at our best or our worst.

Fall of The Republic: Following Movements
A person can have a following, but no one can be a movement. A group of people rallied around a single person and that person’s ideas constitutes a following. A group of people working together towards their shared interests constitutes a movement.
A following is about the person. A movement is about the people.
Leaders need be cautions in how far from the front they lead as well as how far from behind they fall. Leaders who become too distant from the group risk losing the movement and ending alone without a following.
Fall of The Republic: Leap of Faith
Fall with flair. Legs spread, arms raised, neck straight, core tight.
Each time we grow comfortable believing our feet to be firmly planted and we are walking earnestly towards the promised land, a bubble bursts: ours, the dot coms, the housings. One wonders if we are making a steady, comfortable decent to the pavement facing a thud that will be as jarring as it will be unanticipated.
Instead of standing idle as the Republic falls apart, let us unite in the Fall. In this, the spring of our lives, let us claim the Fall as ours. And then, in the dog days of our summers, let us brave the Fall indivisible. All together, during the coldest of our winters, let us Fall forward.
Let us declare this season, Fall of The Republic.
